This week’s TWD was chosen by Kait of Kait’s Plate: my best chocolate chip cookies! Believe it or not, I’m not a huge chocolate chip cookie fanatic. Warm from the oven I like them a lot, but once they’ve cooled, I could easily pass them up. Chocolate chip cookie dough, though, that’s another story. I could eat a ton of it, probably because it’s easy to pick around the chocolate in the dough, which is my least favorite part. Once the cookies are baked it’s much trickier to avoid the chocolate!
I made these cookies to include as part of Shane’s Valentine’s Day gift (I left the nuts out) and while he enjoyed them, they definitely weren’t a favorite. They’re much too thin and crispy; in fact, the edges were lacy. We prefer a thicker, more chewy chocolate chip cookie. If I made this recipe again I’d have to play around with adding more flour. But, truthfully, with so many chocolate chip cookie recipes out there to try, I’m not likely to repeat this one. In fact, just a few days after I baked these cookies, I tried a different recipe, which yielded fantastic cookies. I’ll be sharing them later this week!
Thanks to Kait for hosting this week’s selection! You can find the recipe on her site and you can see the rest of this week’s cookies if you stop by the TWD blogroll.
Well, they look tasty. We didn’t care for them much either. Looking forward to making the CI CCC.
With you. Like them thick.
MMMMM, lacey edges…I want those (minus the chocolate)! They look very good. I like how people stack them up to photo them. I can’t see me getting that to work ever. Yours look lovely, too bad they weren’t a big hit. They certainly were here.
They look like they baked up pretty but after having made these myself in the past I have to agree with you. Once they cook they are a little too crisp for my taste.
I think they baked up really pretty. That’s how I want my cookies to look and I love lacey edges. I’m going to pass on this one though because the ratio of butter to flour is too high!
I agree… not a favorite. But cookie dough on the other hand is ALWAYS good! 🙂
You got a lovely photo out of it! The chocolate isn’t my favourite part of the cookie either.
I agree with you. thicker and chewier cookies are better 🙂
mine looked about the same, but photographed worse… yay for no natural light. grr.
please DO share that CCC recipe. i feel like i’ve tried a million and can’t find one that fits the bill.
too bad they weren’t a fave for you and Shane, but they look gorgeous! I happened to love them!!! It is true though, there are so many cc cookie recipes, how can you make them again when you can try so many others!
Sorry that these weren’t a favorite. I still haven’t made them, so not sure what we’ll think here. Looking forward to reading about the other ones you made.
I’m with you… I prefer thick and chewy chocolate chip cookies. They do look pretty in your pictures, though. 🙂
Wonderful! These look nicely shaped – not too flat. Mine were a little on the oily/buttery side – almost greasy. Good, but “just ok”! Glad you were able to pawn them off on chocolate chip lover(s)! I wouldn’t pass them up!
I agree, the flavor of the dough was good but we didn’t like the lacy edges. Great in curtains, not so much in chocolate chip cookies. I can’t wait to see your other recipe!
These are just beautiful! I’m with you though – I liked these, but I’ve had better.

Your cookies look great, stacked on top of one another. Neither hubby nor I are fans of the thin/crispy CCCs. We prefer the thick and chewy kind. Looking FWD to your CCC post later in the week.
I’m with you…warm from the oven is the ultimate way to eat CCCs!
I haven’t had an the opportunity to taste this yet. I’m a thick and chewy fan too, and don’t think that this will top my favorite CCC recipe from Jacques Torres.
love how thin these are with so much chocolate – these look like my kind of cookie
I liked the dough best too, and I avoid the chocolate too, when possible. I usually always separate some dough before adding the chocolate, and I did that with these. The plain cookie was delicious–chewy and buttery, but ugly!
My cookies were on the cakey side–but I left out half the butter by mistake. They weren’t terrible!
Not my favorite recipe, but still very tasty hot and fresh out of the oven:)
These really look like the best chocolate cookies!!!! Love your pictures!
I am totally with you on this one. They were too thin and almost lacey. Oh well.
But yours still look good!
They look really nice, even if they weren’t quite to your preference. I’m looking forward to seeing the superior cookie later this week!
Your cookies look great. Sorry they weren’t a hit. Great pictures.
For me the eating the dough was the best part of this recipe. the cookies were to thin for me.
Mimi
I can’t wait to see the cookies you tried this week! I had to add a half a cup of flour to this batter! I was worried that I didn’t add the full amount of flour at first! They still look delicious! I love cookie dough so much more than the actually cookies, too!
I can’t imagine not loving chocolate chip cookies, but I agree, sometimes I think I love the dough more.
These are definitely not a favorite, but I do like trying lots of different recipes.
These look delicious. Maybe since they’re thinner than the usual cookies I make, I can rationalize eating more of them in one sitting? 😉
