After I make something new, it usually shows up here within a week or two (assuming it’s blogworthy, of course). But I have to confess I’ve been sitting on this one for a while. To be clear, the delay had everything to do with how little I liked the photos, and nothing to do with how ridiculously delicious and addictive this dip was. I actually made it for the Super Bowl, along with a batch of brownies that I absolutely loved but neglected to photograph. Super Bowl weekend wound up being a busy one for me, and I was short on time. I’d volunteered to make desserts for the party though and wanted to bring more than just brownies. Enter this chocolate chip cookie dough dip – it takes all of about 5 or 10 minutes to throw together, I had the ingredients on hand, and hello, brownies and cookie dough are just meant to be together (Ben & Jerry’s Half-Baked, anyone?).
As soon as I’d finished mixing this up, Shane was by my side offering to sample it – for quality control purposes of course 🙂 I was kind of surprised since he doesn’t like cream cheese and he’d seen me throw an entire block in, but I think he’s slowly coming around on the idea of cream cheese IN things (though never alone, say spread on a bagel). He loved the dip, and so did I. It was a good thing I only finished it 15 minutes before we left the house, or I’m not sure how much would have made it to the party. Pretzels were the dipping item of choice for me, in keeping with my love of the salty/sweet combo. I also did this, which was as good and insanely rich as you might imagine.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip
barely adapted from How Sweet It Is
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 8 oz block cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra for sprinkling
Melt the butter in a small saucepan set over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and whisk until dissolved. Once the mixture starts to bubble, stir in the vanilla extract then remove from the heat and let cool.
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese and confectioner’s sugar on medium speed for 1 minute, or until well combined and smooth. With the mixer on low, slowly pour in the brown sugar/butter mixture, beating until combined. Add the salt. Use a rubber spatula to mix in the mini chocolate chips.
Transfer the dip to your serving bowl and garnish with additional mini chocolate chips. Serve with pretzels and graham crackers (or whatever you like!).
I have seen so many people make this dip and I really want to..looks sooo good!
Oh my goodness, how can you not like your photos? But maybe I am just biased because the dip is just a fantastic thing on it’s own. I have made Michelle @ Brown Eyed Baker’s version of this dip and I am so in love with it.
I love cookie dough, this dip looks amazing!

I love this dip and have been making a version of it for years!
These photos look great! 🙂 I’ve seen this dip all over and I have yet to make it. It’s like liquid cookie crack in dip form. I’m all over it!
I think the pictures are great!! This looks amazing! I have been trying to hold off trying it, but this is making it hard!
I think I’d be too scared to make this dip, because no way I could stop myself from devouring the entire thing!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough DIP!!! O, My!!
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Wow! That sounds amazing! And I just love your pictures!
Have a great day!
Sounds awesome and perfect for a party.
Your photos are gorgeous, as usual, but I know what you mean…I have several great recipes that I’m hesitant to put up for the same reason. 🙂
As for this dip, all I can say is wow!! Please just hand me a spoon. 😀
I have seen chocolate chip cookie dough dip all around the blog world and I’m kind of on the fence about it. I’m not a dip person. I choose to either eat chips or whatever plain or with ketchup , but now that I see this can go on a brownie I may just have to make this AND brownies 🙂
This looks like a prime contender for my next girls’ night. In fact, this might inspire me to schedule another girls’ night soon!
Does’t like cream cheese?! What’s wrong with him?! I could live off cream cheese and bagels.
I love this idea! Especially with the pretzels! And your photo? It’s beautiful – I don’t know what you’re talking about!
This is really the IN thing nowadays…Can’t blame people for liking cookie dough dip. I love it too. This looks really good. A must try!
oh my gosssh isn’t it SO GOOD?! your pictures are gorgeous! i want to steal them.
I have been meaning to try this for a while! Awesome idea!
Love this dip! I like to serve it with graham cracker sticks, but I can’t find them around here anymore.
This is a great recipe and I bet it’s going to be a new favorite in my home! thanks!
I have never seen this before, but I made it this afternoon and it’s heavenly!!! Tried it on pretzel, graham crackers, but the best was graham crackers with peanut butter! Scrumptious, thank you!!!
This dip is pure genius. I wouldn’t have thought of dipping pretzels in but I think that would be my mode of choice for eating this tastiness! And seriously, putting it on top of a brownie… WOW! 🙂
This sounds positively evil! I can feel the weight piling on me just looking at this!
Mmm, I love the Half-Baked ice cream. =) I can just imagine the reaction from B&G if I make this–I might manage to stay in their good graces for more than five minutes that way. =)
This looks amazing – first time i have seen it!
Love me some cookie dough… must make these asap!
