For this week’s TWD I chose to make the All in One Holiday Bundt Cake, which was selected by Britin of The Nitty Britty. This really is a terrific cake for this time of year with its combination of flavors. It starts with pumpkin puree and lots of spices and then apples, cranberries and nuts (I used walnuts) are studded throughout. It baked up beautifully making the whole house smell like the holidays. After it cooled I decided to top it with the maple glaze just to make it look pretty. I didn’t make the glaze thin enough at first so it didn’t run down the sides of the cake the way I’d hoped.
I sent this cake to work with my mother without tasting it first, so I had no idea how it would be received. With all of the flavors going on, I wasn’t sure if they’d all play nicely together π Yesterday afternoon I received an email from my mom with the verdict – the cake was a big hit! People thought it was moist and delicious! This cake freezes well so make it now, pop it in your freezer and you can pull it out at Thanksgiving to share.
Many thanks to Britin for her selection! The recipe is available on Britin’s site or in Dorie’s book. Next Tuesday I’ll finally be making the chocolate caramel chestnut cake, which was actually the recipe selected for the first week of November!
Your bundt looks wonderful! I was worried about all of the different things in this cake too, but I should know by now to trust Dorie, everything worked together so well!
Beautiful! I loved this when I made it, even though it stuck in the pan LOL I bought a new pan and am making it on Thanksgiving π I made the cran-apple crisp this week, so good!
Glad to hear that this one was a hit. I’m going to make small versions (either loaves or mini bundts if I get a new pan) and give them away as well (Thanksgiving treats for the teachers at B’s school).
It’s soooo pretty! I’m glad that it was a hit at your mom’s work. You’re so nice to send treats in with her!
This sounds like a wonderful cacophony of fabulous flavors! It looks tasty too. I bet it would be great griddled for breakfast.
Let me be the first (HAHAHAHAHA) to say how beautiful your bundt is. I like the idea of the maple glaze and it looks perfect to me.
You didn’t taste it??? You should have – delicious.
Looks beautiful.
I made it this week too, only I didn’t do cranberries.
I think your glaze looks great! I added so much maple to mine that mine was brownish. π
How kind of you to share the entire cake! This is one that I was really glad I got to taste. It looks beautiful, Tracey!
Lucky mom! We loved this cake at our house.
This cake is a winner, I just at a slice for brunch! The flavors are delicious together!
I made this last week and did exactly what you suggested…I froze mine to save for Thanksgiving! Yours looks really great and I def plan to serve mine with the glaze like you did!
Man, look at that bad boy, it looks delicious! Nice, thick, and ready for some fork lovin’!
I am making the bundt cake next week, I decided to do the apple crisp this week. So far, everything has been great!
That bundt looks great and from past experience, it tasted de-lish! You’re so nice to just give the whole thing away (and smart–I ate way too much of this one.) π
The bundt looks fabulous. The inside turns out to be so pretty.
The flavors really do blend together beautifully. We love ours.
Thats one awesome looking bundt cake!
this cake was so great! how sweet of you to send it to your mom’s work- i bet they were thrilled!
How did you get the glaze so perfect? It looks terrific! I still have to make this one and I’m looking forward to it.
Tracey – what a lucky mom you have. By the looks of it, it WAS delicious – you did an awesome job on the cake AND the icing. Thanks for the freezing tip for Thanksgiving – or Christmas, for that matter! Nicely done!
This cake really was fabulous and
everyone at work was thrilled to have it! Nothing says holidays to me like cranberries, nuts, pumpkin and fall spices. I have to agree with Kerri that this would be great grilled. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like it was a big hit. I glazed half of mine to share. The other half is unglazed in the freezer. π
I’m glad everyone enjoyed it! It looks so pretty with the glaze drizzled down.
Mine are still in the freezer. I am looking forward to trying the glaze when I take them out, though.
It’s so hard to send something away for others to enjoy without having a taste yourself! Good to know it was enjoyed though
So glad your mom and her officemates loved it – it looks fantastic.
This was a wonderful recipe! I loved it. Glad your Mom liked it. It looks beautiful!
Okay, this looks really beautiful, but I still can’t get past the flavors together and I think I will sit this one out and just admire yours…because yours is definitely worth admiring! Very pretty.
